Dragonfly Album out on 5th December!
It has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to be writing this! This Friday, 5th December I am releasing my new album ‘Dragonfly’.
Download and stream it here from 5/12/2025: Claire Cameron Album: Dragonfly
Featuring performances from a group of amazing musicians I’m privileged to have worked with, it is a journey from bright white through grey into black and then emerging into light again. Songs I wrote in my younger years feature, with thoughts on love, anger, grief and hope, as well as more recent compositions exploring transformation, reflection and acceptance.
Dragonfly is an album touching on many of the genres I like to listen to and perform. It moves from singer-songwriter into pop/rock, acoustic and even has splashes of metal and prog here and there.
I hope you enjoy it, it has been my life’s journey up to this point and I am delighted to finally be able to share it with you!
Huge thanks to Bob Jakins on Bass Guitar, Pete Nash on Guitar and Arrangements, Chris Newman on Guitar and Scott Hunter on Drums! If you like what you hear and you would like to see the album performed live get in touch and we’d love to come and gig it at your venue or festival in 2026!
Massive thanks also to my amazing Producer Tim Bond at Bookmatch Studios – you helped achieve the sound I was looking for and I couldn’t have done this without you.
Finally thank you to the wonderful Rosie Cameron, who has designed the artwork for the album and the single.

This single is very close to my heart, marking a shift in perspective for me.
It is a song for anyone who has ever found themselves shrinking or conforming to fit an expectation from others, rather than feeling able to be who they truly are.
I wrote Dragonfly after a time where I’d become stuck inside a shell, trying to counter bullying by becoming silent. After a while I shook off the lethargy that comes from this approach and decided I was not going to be silenced anymore. The imagery of Dragonflies has a long history, particularly in South East Asia. When I finished writing the song I was struck by a memory from my time living in Vietnam; a swarm of Dragonflies appearing after a storm, rising into the pink sky above the sea, just as the skies cleared. Dragonflies symbolize transition, change and a new start which felt appropriate given the inspiration for the song.
Dragonfly is a song about transformation, positivity and growth. It is the title track for the upcoming album ‘Dragonfly’ which will be out on 5th December 2025.
It features 3 fantastic musicians; Bob Jakins on Bass, Chris Newman on Guitar and Scott Hunter on drums, who I’m incredibly lucky to have playing on the single and the album.

Songwriting; moving on when the past still moves you
‘Moving on’ is such an overused phrase. It also doesn’t usually work unless you stop in one place with the feelings you are trying to escape, first.
I’m in the process of finishing the third in a set of songs I’ve written about this very subject.
Songs live in my head and my heart for a while before I can sing them out and complete the process.
I usually write the piano part first, and then the melody comes out of playing the piano riff and the lyrics follow.
I know that it is a ‘real’ song developing when I don’t have to try too hard with the words and the melody. If they come easily and almost knowing what they want to say without me having to be involved I know it is right. I’m not a patient person generally, but I have be patient with my songwriting self because she does things in her own time in what can seem a slow creative process.
There is nothing more satisfying than the first time I sing a new song through and it has ‘settled’ into a story of sounds and feelings strung together coherently.
Singing it out is by far the best therapy I’ve ever experienced and it can also take me closer to an answer or a next step forward.
Moving on isn’t really it, actually. I prefer being, now.
This way life isn’t all about what is happening next but focussing on living in the moment!
Watch this space – I hope to record the new sounds soon……
