Dragonfly Album out on 5th December!

It has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to be writing this! This Friday, 5th December I am releasing my new album ‘Dragonfly’.

Download and stream it here from 5/12/2025: Claire Cameron Album: Dragonfly

Featuring performances from a group of amazing musicians I’m privileged to have worked with, it is a journey from bright white through grey into black and then emerging into light again.  Songs I wrote in my younger years feature, with thoughts on love, anger, grief and hope, as well as more recent compositions exploring transformation, reflection and acceptance.

Dragonfly is an album touching on many of the genres I like to listen to and perform. It moves from singer-songwriter into pop/rock, acoustic and even has splashes of metal and prog here and there.

I hope you enjoy it, it has been my life’s journey up to this point and I am delighted to finally be able to share it with you!

Huge thanks to Bob Jakins on Bass Guitar, Pete Nash on Guitar and Arrangements, Chris Newman on Guitar and Scott Hunter on Drums! If you like what you hear and you would like to see the album performed live get in touch and we’d love to come and gig it at your venue or festival in 2026!

Massive thanks also to my amazing Producer Tim Bond at Bookmatch Studios – you helped achieve the sound I was looking for and I couldn’t have done this without you.

Finally thank you to the wonderful Rosie Cameron, who has designed the artwork for the album and the single.

This single is very close to my heart, marking a shift in perspective for me.

It is a song for anyone who has ever found themselves shrinking or conforming to fit an expectation from others, rather than feeling able to be who they truly are.

I wrote Dragonfly after a time where I’d become stuck inside a shell, trying to counter bullying by becoming silent. After a while I shook off the lethargy that comes from this approach and decided I was not going to be silenced anymore. The imagery of Dragonflies has a long history, particularly in South East Asia.  When I finished writing the song I was struck by a memory from my time living in Vietnam; a swarm of Dragonflies appearing after a storm, rising into the pink sky above the sea, just as the skies cleared. Dragonflies symbolize transition, change and a new start which felt appropriate given the inspiration for the song.

Dragonfly is a song about transformation, positivity and growth. It is the title track for the upcoming album ‘Dragonfly’ which will be out on 5th December 2025.

It features 3 fantastic musicians; Bob Jakins on Bass, Chris Newman on Guitar and Scott Hunter on drums, who I’m incredibly lucky to have playing on the single and the album.

About The New Single ‘The Past Is Not The Now’

The Past Is Not The Now Claire Cameron feat. Pete Nash, Artwork by Chloe Kutkus Morton

I wrote ‘The Past Is Not The Now’ as I was starting to emerge from a dark and stormy time and strive upwards towards the light.

I think there will be parts of this song many people can relate to.  Life is not a simple, planned and executed novel.  Plans go awry, people make mistakes and people get hurt.  I have always struggled with the need to ‘get it right’, ‘do my best’, ‘give it my all’, ‘succeed’ and ‘be perfect’. That is not a reality anyone actually lives in, I see this now!

One of the biggest struggles for me is learning acceptance that the past happened, whether it happened in a way I wished for or not. It happened, it hurt and now I need to focus on the present.

This song is about that desire to move up and move out of the past. This involves allowing yourself to feel your reaction to it in order to live in the here and now, happily.  This can be challenging to do when past events have gone against what you expected or hoped for.

So, ‘The Past Is Not The Now‘ is a song for anyone who has ever experienced this. I salute your determination, resilience and inner strength. It is a celebration of stubbornly persisting, not giving up or giving in and finally leaving the past where it belongs – behind not in front of you. Let’s keep on going and live in the sunlight of the here and now. Enjoy the present moment!

Huge thanks to Pete Nash for his beautiful guitar, bass, drum programming, singing and arranging on the single at Electric Troubadour Circus. I loved every minute of working with Pete again musicially and he has such a skill for arranging and producing it was a privilege to record with him.

Thank you also to the extremely talented Chloe Kutkus Morton for understanding exactly what I wanted to express with the song and converting it into a beautiful visual impact with the artwork she designed. I love what she has created and will proudly hang it on my music wall.

I’ll be celebrating the launch of this single on Thursday 28th March at The Samuel Pepys Pub, Huntingdon. Do come along and join me, and three other singer songwriters for ‘Performers at The Pepys’ hosted by Gavin Chappell-Bates.
